KENSINGTON DOUBLE STOREY BASEMENTS

These newly constructed Georgian-style houses in Kensington, London, blend seamlessly with the existing row, yet their high-tech, high-specification design sets them apart. MJ Rooney, in collaboration with AndArchitects, Peter Dann Structural Engineers and Michael Barclay Partnership for Temporary Works design, managed the entire project from demolition to interior fit-out.

We began by demolishing a five-storey block of flats and then sinking 10-metre-deep shafts to underpin adjacent properties. This groundwork provided a stable foundation for the new build. From these deep foundations, we constructed the ground floor slab and continued building upward while completing the basement excavation. The basements feature advanced underpinning to ensure durability and longevity.

These homes blend traditional Georgian aesthetics with modern amenities, reflecting our commitment to excellence in construction and design. MJ Rooney is proud to have developed these properties, which are poised to stand the test of time.
