BLACKHEATH COACH HOUSE EXTENSION

MJ Rooney undertook the basement extension of a historic coach house in Blackheath, London, adding a modern touch with a reinforced concrete superstructure. The project expanded the home with two new bedrooms, a home cinema, and a gym, alongside a basement courtyard. Unique to this project, there was ample space for an outdoor swimming pool, pool house, and summer house. Above, a two-story extension was built, featuring terracotta cladding and a zinc roof.

The design of the extension harmonised with its historic surroundings while meeting modern specifications. Terracotta cladding, reflecting the original red brick, added a contemporary edge to the property. The zinc roof, with its sleek lines and uniform colour, completed the extension with a striking modern flair, ensuring both aesthetic and functional integration into the existing structure.

This project highlights MJ Rooney's expertise in blending historic preservation with modern construction techniques.
