BASEMENT FEATURED ON GRAND DESIGNS

MJ Rooney undertook the challenging basement extension project in East London featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs. Initially begun by another contractor, the project faced significant issues, including collapsing excavation sides and failed concrete formwork. MJ Rooney intervened to repair and complete the half-built structure, ensuring a perfect and waterproof finish.

The project involved extensive work on a small site, including using steel sheet piles for earthworks support. We excavated the site, installed robust foundations, and constructed a floating concrete slab to provide insulation and thermal storage. The basement, featuring a bright and functional space, benefits from a state-of-the-art cavity drainage system, ensuring effective waterproofing and moisture control.

Our expertise in 3D modelling, structural waterproofing, and precise construction techniques allowed us to transform a problematic site into a high-quality residential space, demonstrating our capability to handle complex basement projects with precision and professionalism.
