MJ Rooney construction has won the Design Innovator Award at the NCE100 Awards 2019.
The inspirational winners of the 2019 NCE100 Awards were crowned in front of the industry on 30 April at The Brewery, London. The NCE100 Awards brought together the most innovative, impactful and inspirational firms operating in civil engineering.
The judges stated that:
The family run SME company demonstrated a truly agile approach to bringing in new technologies and did so with energy and enthusiasm to improve its business.
The judges loved the end to end approach using SketchUp, augmented reality and mixed reality to talk to clients, decrease time for party wall agreements, plan construction sequences, then on site to improve safety and allow a more diverse workforce to be able to work on site together.
It used the technology to allow a constant feedback loop to be set up when situations changed on site with every member of the design and construction workforce able to access all models at all time. Health and safety was embedded in every aspect of its work with QR codes to make sure additional information was accessible.
Mark Hansford, editor of New Civil Engineer said:
One of the amazing things about the NCE100 is the way we find not just the amazing companies, but also the amazing PEOPLE behind those amazing companies. It’s not the main purpose of the NCE100; it’s not what the awards recognise – but it is – I suspect– what many our judges – our amazing judges – find so enthralling about coming into our office in judging week and listening to all those presentations. Our NCE100 2019 winners are the most innovative, impactful and inspirational companies operating in the infrastructure sector today.
